Stakeholders Profiles 1. Speak Africa, the voice of African youth!! An organization that encourages the free communication of ideas, thoughts, and problems faced by African youth. Speak Africa attempts to improve understanding and make the voice of African youth heard by other young people and adults around the world. 2. UNICEF 1 min Juniors, ideas in motion!! This is an exciting project wherein young people are given the opportunity to create their 1 min video masterpieces and present them to their peers during the summit. These videos will be made before and during the conference and will capture a variety of filmic ideas and techniques. 3. Faxcination, a school for animation!! A group that brings animation, net animation and IT concepts to young people in countries such as Ethiopia, Mongolia and Laos where basic equipment is not easily available. They’re also facilitators for animation workshops at schools and universities. 4. Football, 2 South African Football icons!! The soccer stars will address how sports and sportsmanship can be used as an avenue for understanding and peace. They will speak to the next generation sports stars and fans and explain how the role of the youth in sports can promote friendship. Their identity for now however is top secret! 5. Cultural Activities, a cultural spectacle!! This is a very exciting aspect of the conference where the youth will partake in an interactive cultural experience. All delegates will be dressed in their traditional attire and will be treated to various performances including Drumming and Dancing. 6. YOMNET, voices of youth!! This is an initiative brought about by discussions and forums in the previous World Summit in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil. It is a network of young people involved in the media who correspond and coordinate media activities in an attempt to bring together all youth media. This project is facilitated by UNICEF 7. Soul Buddyz, multimedia edutainment!! This project is specifically targeted towards 8-12 year olds and addresses the issues faced by these children in South Africa; this includes healthcare, children’s rights and other social problems. The project is well known for the popular television series however it is also involved in radio and publishing of school manuals/books. 8. Obesity USA, Health care!! A presentation on the global health concerns of the youth. The focus will be on global health trends such as obesity, HIV/AIDS and how young people can live healthily and make the correct health related choices. 9. LoveLife, HIV/AIDS prevention!! This is South Africa’s national HIV/AIDS prevention program for youth. They provide adolescent friendly information and services to promote an AIDS free society. This campaign involves the use of highly visible multi-media devices to create awareness. 10. CIFEJ Jury, Kids 4 Kids Africa Film festival!! A fun filled children’s film festival will be held during the conference. Selected delegates will watch movies and share their opinions on them. The Jury that comprises of delegates will judge and analyse the films/ video clips created by other delegates before and during the conference and choose the best one as the winner of the African Festival. 11. Alexandria Choir, a musical treat!! The Alexandria community choir is made up of young people from the underprivileged township in the north of Johannesburg. Their music is inspirational and uplifting and will definitely get you dancing out of your seats. 12. Child to Child, community projects!! This is a program that aims to promote good health and well being of children. This is a pilot project from Mozambique.
